In high school, Dr. Smedberg sustained a football injury that required treatment from an orthopaedic surgeon. The surgeon provided him with excellent care and he has been fascinated by orthopaedics ever since. He loves the field of orthopaedics because it allows him to help people of all ages recover from various injuries and conditions so they can return to work, sports, and their everyday activities.

Dr. Smedberg enjoys talking to patients and educating them about their conditions and treatment options, including both operative and nonoperative interventions. Together, they then determine the most appropriate treatment and work to help patients reach their treatment goals and resume their lives.

Listening to patients assists him in diagnosing a patient’s problem and developing an effective treatment plan based on their unique needs. He always tries to put himself in the patient’s shoes to better understand how an injury or condition personally affects them. Then, they work together to achieve the best possible results.

Dr. Smedberg enjoys following college football and participating in numerous outdoor sports and activities, as well as spending time with his family.
